Betting Strategy at Three Card Poker online
Although this table game uses the hand rankings and general concept of poker, it lacks the subtlety and skill of variations like Texas holdem and seven card stud, where the players compete directly with one another. In fact, three card poker is even simpler to play than blackjack, in which the player must learn the optimal decision for each set of hands in relation to the dealers up card. Three card poker involves only three decisions: Is it worth playing due to the payout structure? Should I bet the Pair Plus? Do I fold or play my hand? Lets start with the first question. While roughly similar, there are several different payout structures on the ante bet, which vary from online casino to online casino. Fortunately, the difference in house edge in almost all of these structures is less than 1%. When choosing where to play, your best option will be a table that pays 5 to 1 on a straight flush and 4 to 1 on three of a kind, although 3 to 1 isnt much worse. You should be aware, however, that there are some casino online that do not pay a bonus on the ante when the player makes a straight, improving the house edge. If possible, avoid three card poker at these casinos, even if a special payout for a Mini Royal Flush is offered. The next decision you need to make is whether or not to play the Pair Plus circle. A friend of mine once told me a story about how his father had won a lot of money using the strategy of betting on the Pair Plus, as if this were some sort of expert move. On the contrary, the Pair Plus is often seen as a sucker bet, as it serves merely to increase the house edge, though the prospect of a big payday on a straight flush is certainly enticing. The most common pay structure, in which a flush pays 3 to 1, is actually the least favorable to the player. In general, play at places that offer 4 to 1 odds on a flush and 6 to 1 on a straight; the other hands are rare enough that slight variations in the payout do not much matter. If youve decided to play in the game at all, you must then choose to fold or play your hand each round. Fortunately, this is probably the easiest decision of all: bet the Play if your hand is Q-6-4 or better and fold if it is lower. In other words, play any hand that contains a king, any hand that contains a queen and a seven or better, and any hand that contains a queen, a six, and a four or better. This hand is the cutoff point for where the player begins to lose less than he would lose by folding. Using this strategy and betting the Pair Plus would give the house an edge of a little over 5%, which is higher than blackjack and some bets on the craps table but not too bad when compared with many of the other bets in the casino en ligne.

The November Niners
The November Niners Now that the last remaining players to compete on one of the most famous, one of the most prestigious and definitely the one of the richest sporting event in the world, are completed, its time to learn a bit of them and have a taste of what could happen in the poker table [...]

One theory is that poker developed out of the German card game pochspiel. Like poker, pochspiel includes betting, hand rankings and bluffing. However, poker is also very similar to the Persian game as nas, and R.F. Foster wrote that "the game of poker, as first played in the US… is undoubtedly the Persian game of as nas". There was also a French game called poque;like this game and pochspiel, the name poker is derived from the German word pochen, which means to brag and bluff. Another view is that poker developed earlier than these games, and originated in the Mississippi River Delta before 1800, and spread to the West through miners who headed to California during the 19th century gold rush. Early forms of poker differed significantly from the modern version played now, with 20-card versions, 52-card versions, straight and stud poker all being popular at one time or another. However, poker as we know it was popularized after the 1970′s.

It should come as no surprise that Texas Hold ‘em poker is responsible for the dramatic upsurge in online gaming profits. After all, one only has to turn on the television most any weeknight, and a poker tournament will surely be showing somewhere. The exposure these days is relentless.

The draw, of course, is the thrill of the final table and the riches that come with it. From poker’s roots in dusty Old West saloons, to dazzling casino rooms, to the home PC, it is everywhere today. According to the research service PokerPulse, more than 1.78 million poker players made real money wagers online in January. That number is only expected to increase as tournament prize money continues to grow. On most any given day, an online ‘hold ‘em’ tourney will reward those “in the money” with purses of $100,000, $250,000, even $500,000.

Certainly $2,500,000 is a large sum by anyone’s standards. And that’s just what a young fellow by the name of Chris Moneymaker from Tennesse won in the 2003 World Series of Poker (WSOP). That princely sum was parlayed from a $39 investment in a “qualifier” at an online poker room. His overnight success story aired countless times on cable television, and suddenly, poker was hot.

Not to be outdone, Greg “Fossilman” Raymer turned a $160 “satellite” entry at the very same poker site into a seat at the 2004 WSOP. Raymer’s result? Champion! And a staggering first prize of $5,000,000. Online poker had arrived.

Consider that in January 2002 the industry gross ‘rake’ (or fees collected) per day was around $100,000. Today, it’s near $2.5 million per day. An estimated $16 billion was wagered on internet poker sites in 2004. And, as new devotees enroll in mind-boggling numbers, it’s difficult to gauge an industry consensus on just where the limit lies.

Though the poker resurgence began in the U.S., it may be growing faster overseas. Britain, already a gambling-crazed country, accounts for roughly 80% of the European poker market. Germany and Austria have burgeoning poker clubs and communities, while the Scandinavian population may be the ripest emerging new market. Also, it’s interesting to note that 30-40% of new European players are female.

The phenomenon of women in poker may hold the key to explaining poker’s rapid ascent. In the past, poker was viewed more in the Old West sense. That is, that poker was a game for males conducted mostly illicitly and in less than pleasing surroundings. In fact, up until just a couple of years ago most Las Vegas casinos had gotten out of the poker business. A handful of poker rooms on old Fremont Street were essentially the only games in town.

The internet, however, changed all that. It offers anonymity, is safe and hassle-free, and presents the opportunity for copious rewards in exchange for relatively modest entry fees. What more could a girl want? If she (or he) has the skill, it’s possible to compete alongside world-class players and actually win.

But is it extraordinary skill which will get you to the final table? Perhaps. Numerous authors have written on the subject of the perfect poker strategy. The odds, the hands, probabilities, you simply must know what you’re doing they say. Just don’t tell that to Chris Moneymaker though. He’d never even read a book on poker prior to winning it all.

If you like poker, then you want to be sure that you take advantage of any poker freerolls that are out there for you. You should enjoy the bonuses that come with just about any poker site that offers poker rooms. This can make your poker playing a lot more fun and also give you a chance to see what online poker is all about.

There is nothing more exciting than online poker for the poker player. This is a chance to be able to play poker whenever you want without having to drive to a casino or a tournament. When you join an online casino, you need to make sure that they offer poker. In most cases, the poker sites are played in real time, so you are actually playing against other players when you play this game. You can use the poker freerolls in these cases and get more for your money, enabling you to play the game using these bonuses and chances to enter tournaments without having to use your own money, or at least getting some extra money from the casino.

Poker freerolls are not only offered to new players at a poker site. There are many cases where bonuses such as this are given to existing players. If you play poker often online, some of the casinos that offer this game will reward you by giving you bonuses as well as poker freerolls for being a frequent player. The more you play poker online, the better you get when it comes to developing the skills that you need to win at this game. You also get used to playing against certain players as you will most likely play them over and over again as you visit the casino. You can play at tables against other players or even enter tournaments.

Poker is where the money is when you are online gambling as you are playing against other players and not against the house. The odds are in your favor if you are a good poker player.

Historians can’t quite agree how the game of poker emerged. They think the name of the game may have originated from the French word “poque”, a variation of the German “pochen” or “to knock” or “to brag”. This may refer to how bluffing is an integral part of the game-you pretend to have great cards, you play with your opponent’s mind. Poker is as much a matter of skill as a strategic air of arrogance; it is psychological warfare.

The game itself may have been related to the ancient Persian game called “nas”. French immigrants who had settled in New Orleans may have learned it from the sailors from the Orient who passed through its ports. It also may have been influenced by the game of “primero”, which was popular during the Renaissance, and the French game “brelan”. Brelan eventually developed into the English game of “bragg”, which could have lent some of its elements of bluffing to the modern game of poker.

Poker was very popular in New Orleans. At the time-approximately the early 19th century-it was played with a deck composed of twenty cards, which was distributed to 20 players. It was mentioned in the memoirs of English actor Joseph Cromwell, as well as Jonathan H. Green’s book, “An Exposure of the Arts and Miseries of Gambling “, which was published in 1843 in Philadelphia. The book described how poker spread from New Orleans to Philadelphia to the rest of the country, through the Mississippi River. Boats frequently plied its waters to bring goods to the different cities, and sailors would pass the time playing poker.

Poker was also spread by frontiersmen who traveled West during the gold rush, or the pioneers who worked to tame the wildlands into farms and settlements. In this way, poker certainly played a part of American history-and is a deeply rooted in American culture. In fact, some of the country’s most powerful people, including President Harry Truman, were avid poker players.

In time, the poker deck was expanded from the original 20 to include 52 cards, typical of English games. They also started using the flush. When the American Civil War broke out, and soldiers would play the game to pass the time, many poker variants evolved. These included draw poker, stud poker (the five-card variant), and the straight. In 1875, the game also started incorporating the wild card, lowball and split pot poker. In 1925, community card poker games emerged. Poker jargon also developed, invented by poker players and then incorporated into the English language itself as idiomatic expressions or metaphors. Examples are ace in the hole, ace up one’s sleeve, beats me, blue chip, call one’s bluff, cash in, high roller, pass the buck, poker face, stack up, up the ante, when the chips are down, wild card, and others.

These poker variants were then brought by the U.S troops to the rest of the world (especially Asia) during the First and Second World Wars.

The game and jargon of poker have become important parts of American and English culture.

Dealing with Sore Losers
Once in your poker playing life, youll come across one or more players that simply cant step to the beat of losing and winning. These people are those who probably think they should win simply because their opponents seemed to be winning the entire day, which is not a good excuse for losing badly in [...]

The Development of Seven-Card Stud
The development of Seven-Card Stud has been well-documented. It is richly concentrated in the pages of the history books on poker. The rich history of Seven-Card Stud, however, is underappreciated by most poker players as many amateur poker players immediately turn to Texas Holdem as their choice of poker variant. Appreciating even a part of [...]
